Sarah Shahi is an American actress and former model known professionally as Aahoo Jahansouzshahi. It was her role as Carmen on The L Word in 2005, Kate Reed on the USA Network legal drama Fairly Legal, and Sameen Shaw on the CBS crime drama Person of Interest that made her a household name. She has also played the main role of Det.
In 1980, Sarah Shahi was born Aahoo Jahansouzshahi in Euless, Texas. She is the daughter of interior designer Abbas Jahansouzshahi and his wife Mahmonir Soroushazar, who divorced when she was ten. Her father originates from Iran. Two years before the Iranian Revolution, her father’s family left Iran. After the last Shah’s regime collapsed in 1979, her father, who was working at the American embassy in Iran, was slated for execution, but fled the country.
