Belgium vs Morocco live Streaming: At Al Thumama Stadium, Belgium will meet Group F rival Morocco on Sunday with the goal of putting at least one foot in the knockout stages.

The Red Devils won their first match against Canada, and now they will take on the Atlas Lions.

After qualifying with relative ease and averaging over three goals a game, Belgium began their latest quest for a major trophy on Wednesday against a nation that had not participated in a World Cup final for nearly 40 years.

As Group F outsiders, Canada prospered on their return to the global stage throughout the first half in Al Rayyan, where Thibaut Courtois saved an early penalty, but Michy Batshuayi’s 44th-minute goal secured the three points.

In his first start since Romelu Lukaku was injured, Fenerbahce striker Mesut Ozil secured an all-important opening day win, while several other stars, including Kevin De Bruyne, struggled.

In the wake of Croatia and Morocco’s goalless draw earlier in the day, Belgium sit at the top of their group heading into Sunday’s second match. However, they will have to step up their efforts when facing a more difficult opponent.

Batshuayi is likely to still carry the burden up front for an aging ‘Golden Generation’, and he could prove crucial to the Red Devils’ prospects in Qatar if he can successfully substitute Lukaku – who has scored 68 goals in 102 international matches and five in ten World Cup matches.

Despite what might be the last chance for coach Roberto Martinez, the Belgians are still looking to improve on their third-place finish in 2018, but must first take care of business against a country they defeated 1-0 at USA ’94, their only previous World Cup encounter.

The Belgians have now won all eight of their group stage games at the finals, whereas Morocco have found the going tougher over the years, so the draw with Croatia was celebrated.

A solid defensive performance led to the Atlas Lions remaining in the mix for last-16 qualification after their match in Al Khor. Since they have failed to qualify for the World Cup four times in their last five attempts and took just one point from a tough group four years ago, this is an acceptable state of affairs.

The current coach of the team, Walid Regragui, has already admitted that his team are not expected to reach the knockout stages given their European counterparts in Group F, but they were more than right up there with their opponents on Wednesday. In spite of Morocco not scoring in nine out of 17 World Cup matches, holding Croatia goalless represents a success.

The former boss Vahid Halilhodzic left the squad after defeat to Egypt in the quarter-finals of last year – after dropping Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui due to disagreements – but his replacement Regragui reintegrated both players.

He now leads his nation into another game from which they would probably accept a single point, before facing Canada four days later in a potentially decisive match.

They should at least take on Belgium amid a partisan atmosphere in Doha, backed by Moroccan fans from North Africa and a large expat community in the Middle East.

Belgium vs Morocco Head-to-Head

  • Morocco has won the other match between the two teams, while Belgium has won two of the three games played between the two teams.

  • Only one previous FIFA World Cup match between the two teams took place in 1994, with Belgium winning by a 1-0 margin.

  • Last time these two teams met in 2008, Belgium shocked Morocco with a 4-1 victory, ending a two-game losing streak.

  • In four matches against African nations during the FIFA World Cup, Belgium has not lost a single match. During the group stage of the competition, all of these matches took place.

  • During the FIFA World Cup group stages, Belgium has dominated with eight wins in a row.

Belgium vs Morocco Prediction

It was arguably fortunate for Belgium to win their opening game this week after Canada’s inspiring performance. It will be up to Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard to step up to the plate to bolster the Red Devils’ tournament credentials.

Despite holding their ground against Croatia admirably, Morocco will be facing a Belgian side with more firepower. A European outfit should be able to win this game on paper because they are the better team.

Prediction: Belgium 2-0 Morocco
