Northeast

Located in Bethel, New York, the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts presents Peace, Love & Lights, a driving-through holiday light experience. Until January 3, the over-a-mile light show will run nightly. With LED lighting and animated displays, the light show is a collaboration between Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association and features a 120-foot Twinkle Tunnel that will take your breath away. There are four themed areas, Groovy Way (which portrays the youth of 1969), the Enchanted Forest, and Snowflake Alley.

From 2020, Boothbay, Maine’s annual Gardens Aglow will be a drive-through event held at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. From the comfort of their cars, spectators can witness the glistening lights on trees, animals, and flowers adorning the gardens. There are more than 650,000 LEDs adorning these trees and flowers. All vehicles must possess timed tickets and must not exceed nine feet in height.

The 1.2-mile drive-through version of Westchester’s Winter Wonderland has been re-configured for safety. It now includes thousands of animated lights, holiday entertainment and other enhancements. ( Drive through christmas light )A festive FM radio station will broadcast holiday music and enjoy other festive sights like Ned and Albert, dancing alongside glittering angels of peace and swaying trees, glowing snowballs, a candy cane lane, and Wonderland’s big 40-foot Christmas tree.

Winter Wonder Drive-Thru in West Springfield, Massachusetts is an audio/visual spectacular that displays colorful lighting effects, special effects, and 3D holograms in a COVID-19-compliant environment. A holiday display will be presented right from inside the vehicle for attendees to enjoy. Santa’s elves, a snowstorm with no accumulation, singing snowmen, and a snowfall that is entirely clean are among this year’s special effects.

 

Further South

Drive through christmas lights : This experience lives up to its name. This tour has tacky lights. It is estimated that there were 12 houses in Richmond, Virginia in the 1980s. In fact, Richmond has become the “Tacky Lights Capital of the World.” thanks to the tour. 

To see the most beautifully decorated houses and buildings in Richmond, participants follow the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s route. The homeowners involved try to go above and beyond every year, creating a new tacky experience every year.

 

Christmas lights set to traditional holiday tunes can be found at Virginia Beach’s Holiday Lights Beach. The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is awash in nautical and adventure-themed light displays as thousands of spectators watch from their cars. To hear traditional holiday music, guests tune in to a special radio channel. An animated dancing Christmas tree and Surfing Santa are part of this year’s festivities. As part of the magic, there are colors-changing arches, festive fish, musical crabs, and elves who work hard to make it all come true.

The Midwest, Southwest, and West

New Mexico culture and winter spirit come together in Albuquerque’s Winter Wonderland. The drive-through attractions feature large-scale decorations and professional lighting installations. Visitors will enter the festival through a mile-long route filled with giant holiday inflatables, an electric forest with over 100 decorated Christmas trees, and traditional New Mexican luminaries. Part of the proceeds from every ticket sold will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico and the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.

 

With more than 1 million LED lights and 180 display stations, the Tanglewood Park Festival of Lights is a four-mile drive-through holiday lights display in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A former estate of Will and Kate Reynolds, from the family of RJ Reynolds, Tanglewood Park is 1100 acres.

 

Wisconsin Christmas of Carnival Lights is the largest drive-through holiday light display in Wisconsin, located 20 minutes south of Milwaukee at Jellystone ParkTM Camp-Resort. A path spanning over 1.6 miles features more than two million twinkling lights in handcrafted displays, including forest friends, reindeer, and Santa and his elves.

Austin’s 56th annual Trail of Lights illuminates Zilker Park this year. Over two million lights, 90 lighted holiday trees, and more than 70 holiday displays and tunnels light up this popular Texas light show. Admission is by timed entry.

 

In the village of Bear Lake, Michigan, there is a drive-through event called Sparkle in the Park. The holiday experience now in its sixteenth year features more than 80,000 lights in 50 displays including Christmas trees, Santa, reindeer, a salute to the troops, snowmen, animals, and nativity scenes.

This holiday show offers more than 1.5 million lights perfectly synced to holiday music as you drive by Bandimere Speedway every year. We have snowmen, giant candy canes, and arched pathways to delight the entire family.

The Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey

Until January 3, a smartphone app will let you follow a narrative and listen to music as you navigate a sleigh-sized quest in Pomona. This is one of the few light-up experiences that features live actors. (This may explain the price.) During your tour, you’ll also encounter delightfully committed elves who will measure your car’s Christmas spirit, juggling pins, balance on oversized Christmas lights-and even accepts letters from Santa.

 

South Coast Botanic Garden’s GLOW

Here are some things to do

Take a twinkling stroll through South Coast Botanic Garden during this illuminated, after-hours installation, which starts just before Thanksgiving and runs through the end of the year. A mix of genre-spanning music is set to multicolored uplights throughout the Palos Verdes Peninsula garden. It’s not overly Christmassy; the lighting, instead, provides a different perspective on the botanical residents (we especially liked the banyan grove, desert collection, and succulent-filled living wall).

 

Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn

Things to do

During Riverside’s annual Festival of Lights, Riverside’s stunningly beautiful Mission Inn is illuminated by 4.5 million twinkling lights. Each year, more than 400 animated figures appear in the free six-week holiday tradition.

For the 2021 edition of the festival, there will not be a turn-on ceremony, and visitors will not be able to stroll the main walkway (aside from hotel guests and restaurant patrons).

 

Dodgers Holiday Festival

Things to do

Nobody knows when the Dodgers’ championship will be properly celebrated. For now, this festive drive-thru will have to suffice. In Lot 10 at Chavez Ravine from November 27 through December 24, enjoy a light show, LED video displays, fake snow, and other Dodgers-themed decor.

 

Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights Extravaganza

Torrance’s Seaside neighborhood (sometimes called Sleepy Hollow) offers a lot of lights, and sometimes that’s all you’d like to see. 

Take a trip through this kaleidoscope of brake lights to reach Robert Road. From around the end of November through the beginning of December, trees, lawns and homes are covered in extravagant electrical displays. Up until New Year’s Day, the displays typically run from 6pm to 10pm on every night (park on PCH, Calle Mayor, or Prospect Avenue) and you can walk a few blocks if you’d like. Throughout the area, trash bins and signs saying “no stopping” will be installed starting on December 11.

Beverly Hills

In Los Angeles, there are no holiday windows comparable to those on 5th Avenue in New York. (drive through christmas lights) Beverly Hills, where we have a lot of tony shopping districts, knows how to fill the holidays with opulence. The holiday plan takes a very BH approach: 10 champagne, copper and bronze mannequins, interspersed with spotlights and red lights, will line Rodeo Drive. The lights usually swirl around the palm trees along Via Rodeo, across Wilshire Boulevard and onto the opulent Beverly Wilshire across the street. At the Beverly Canyon Gardens, a willow tree is decked out in gold decor, too, along with Beverly Drive.

Venice Canals

Without the grunge of the boardwalk and the pretense of Abbot Kinney, the Venice Canals are an idyllic slice of LA life made even more charming by the Christmas lights that line its bridges each year. If you don’t want to drive through one-way Dell Avenue, park a few blocks away and enjoy a stroll through the neighborhood. We still expect some houses (and bridges) to be decorated regardless of the cancellation of the canals’ long-running, irreverent boat parade.
