Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) Odisha 2023: check details and online apply
Odisha has introduced the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) for the year 2023, and interested individuals can apply online for this scheme through the official website health.odisha.gov.in. The BSKY scheme aims to provide universal health insurance coverage, with a special focus on economically vulnerable families. Under this scheme, the state government will offer healthcare assistance of Rs. 5 lakh per family per annum for secondary and tertiary treatment procedures. The cashless treatment is available at all government and private empanelled hospitals, benefiting around 96 lakh families (approximately 3.5 crore people).
With the BSKY smart health card, all citizens visiting any state government health institution from the district to sub-center level will receive free health services, including free drugs, diagnostics, dialysis, cancer chemotherapy, OT, I.C.U, and in-patient admissions. Each member of the family is eligible for health insurance coverage of Rs. 5 lakh, while women beneficiaries will receive an additional amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 15th August 2018. In 2022, over 6 lakh people from poor families availed cashless and free treatment in various private hospitals under the BSKY scheme, and the state government paid around Rs. 1,389 crore for their treatment.
The smart health cards have been distributed to beneficiaries in a phased manner, and the scheme covers all 30 districts of Odisha. The state government has not accepted the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and has claimed that BSKY is a superior scheme.
The BSKY smart health card is being provided to all 96 lakh families under the national and state food security schemes. Until the card distribution is complete, families can use their NFSA/SFSA cards to avail benefits, starting from 1st September 2021.
