The “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” campaign initiated by the Government of India is an endeavor to boost the development of rural villages. This initiative commenced on November 11, 2014. Through this initiative, access to higher education will be facilitated for people residing in rural areas. Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, priority will be given to villages that have lagged behind in development. The program is being implemented by IIT Delhi.
As part of this campaign, at least one group will be formed to connect these villages with educational institutions, providing them with economic and social development support. Those interested in benefiting from this initiative must apply on the official website, ensuring their eligibility is met. The goal of this initiative is to promote the overall development of the entire nation.
On April 25, 2018, the Ministry of Human Resource Development launched the second version of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme. Under this plan, students from 750 higher education institutions across the country will collaborate to contribute to the development of villages. This scheme also includes college and university students.
A total of 748 institutions are participating in this scheme, with 143 institutions in phase one and 605 institutions participating, including 313 technical institutions and 292 non-technical institutions. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has called upon central and state governments to involve all higher education institutions and engage them in helping rural gram panchayats and villages benefit from their experiences, knowledge, and expertise. This initiative aims to address the shortcomings and future challenges faced by rural gram panchayats.
As known, there are many villages in the country that remain underdeveloped and have lagged behind in the field of education. In light of this issue, the Government of India has launched the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Yojana. Through this scheme, rural areas will be provided with education and efforts will be made to develop villages by solving challenges in the field of progress using various technologies. This initiative aims to lead the citizens of rural areas towards progress. Higher education institutions have been included in this effort, as they can contribute to the economic and social development of villages, addressing the issues faced by rural gram panchayats.
Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme, the government will select certain higher education institutions. These selected institutions will be responsible for guiding subject-specific groups and regional general institutions. IIT Delhi will serve as the national coordinator institute for this campaign. All distinguished institutions will be gradually included in this endeavor. These selected institutions will work towards adopting villages. Afterward, students from these institutions will study local problems and needs. Following this, the institutions will collaborate with the villages to find solutions to their issues. It is expected that all institutions will work in coordination with district administration, gram panchayats, and other stakeholders.
The benefits of this scheme will be extended to the citizens of rural areas. The following documents will be required:
