The Telangana government initiated the Telangana 2 BHK program with the aim of offering housing options to its permanent residents. The Telangana 2BHK Scheme comprises six phases, with the government having already released the 2nd and 3rd phases. The 4th phase list for the 2BHK Scheme is expected to be released soon and will be available for download in PDF format on the official website for those who have submitted flat applications. In 2015, Telangana’s Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, introduced the Telangana 2BHK Housing Scheme to provide housing for those in need who couldn’t afford it. This pioneering program requires no contribution from the recipients and offers them two-bedroom homes, protecting them from debt traps often found in rural areas where livelihoods depend on seasonal factors. In contrast to the typical cost range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8.65 lakh for such units, the Telangana government goes a step further by offering them at no cost. The housing department is currently constructing 2.80 lakh homes, and a budget of approximately Rs 5.30 lakhs is required for a 2BHK flat. Telangana expects to raise funds of Rs. 1,365 crore from PMAY, Rs. 2,500 crore from Hudco, and Rs. 185 crore from state revenue.
